#My health day

Humans by nature are curious to explore to know everything. With this, they have cognition capability to implement their thoughts in actions. As we all know, we have different days like Remembrance Day, Sports day, Independence Day etc. I was surfing for national or international days and found World health day.

I do not know how many of us are aware of World Health Day. The one who do not know, it is celebrated every year on 7 April to commemorate the anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO) founded in 1948. Each year for this date, WHO choose a theme to highlight an area of priority concern. In the WHO words

Are we able to reimagine a world
Where economies are focused on health and well-being?
Where cities are liveable, and people have control over their health and the health of the planet?

WHO has setup a goal for Universal health coverage and health for all by 2030.  In 2021 WHO report, before covid only 2/3 of world population had access to health services. Only 1 billion people could afford health while spending 10% of their household budget. In 2022, WHO theme is Health Promotion for Well-being, Equity and Sustainable Development.

We do not celebrate such days on national or international level to increase people awareness and their involvement in wellbeing. Such days are paramount to change the people’s behaviour towards the health management.

This is very common story; we do not visit doctors in young age but our health needs change with time. I am surprised people visit to doctor for illness only, not for wellbeing discussion.

Treading on WHO health day, we all need to have a health day. On this day, we can prioritise our health and set up the health goals. We can check our health, make a record of health parameter to track and share it with health professionals on Patient On The Go (POTG). In this way, we can manage our health to create a healthy society and country. This will fulfil the demands of My health My right and also My responsibility.

In our life, one day of year should be our health day. It can be any day. We should be committed to catch up with our health, discuss what we need to stay healthy and go through our health record to find out the need of consultation with doctor. We need to be proactive in health matters. This is possible only if we change our behaviour towards health.

It’s a time to change, it’s a time to have my health day, this day I will look after myself. At last, we can choose what we want it’s us.

  • We can be calm, it’s us
  • We can be upset, it’s us
  • We can be sage, it’s us
  • We can be ignorant, it’s us
  • We can be absurd, it’s us
  • We can be thrilled, it’s us
  • We can be miserable, it’s us

It’s we who needs to execute, rest of the things will change by itself. Let’s celebrate my health day with POTG. #myhealthday
